A photo becomes a paint by numbers kit the same way any design does: the image is separated
into numbered colour areas and printed onto canvas, then matched acrylics are mixed to those
numbers. The difference is that the picture is yours — your dog, your grandmother, the
house you grew up in.
You approve the canvas before we paint it
Not every photograph translates well, so nothing is printed until you have seen it. We email
a digital preview of how your image will look once it has been separated into numbered areas.
If it is not right, we adjust it. Because custom kits wait on that approval, they take a little
longer to dispatch than a standard kit.
What makes a photo work
Sharp and well lit gives the best result. Blurry, dark or very small images limit the detail
that can be reproduced, because fine detail has to survive being reduced to flat colour areas.
A face in good light works beautifully. The same face in a dim phone snapshot has less to work
with.
One subject fits any canvas size. Add more faces, more pets or intricate background detail
and a larger canvas gives each of them room — on a small canvas those areas compress into
a handful of shapes.
What people turn into canvases
Pets are the most common by a wide margin, then family portraits and couples. People also
send us houses, wedding photographs and pictures of someone they have lost — a personalised
kit is one of the few gifts that takes the recipient hours to finish and then stays on their
wall.
Every kit includes the printed numbered canvas, matched acrylic paints, brushes and a
reference sheet. Free worldwide shipping on all orders.
