Paint by Numbers for Adults
Paint by numbers for adults is not the children’s version with bigger boxes. Adult kits use
finer numbered areas, a wider palette and subjects that hold up on a wall — landscapes,
portraits, famous paintings, abstracts. The numbering does the drawing, so no one needs to be
able to draw; what the hobby actually asks for is patience and a steady half-hour at a time.
Choosing by skill level
Skill level here is really about how small the numbered areas get, not how “good” you have to
be. Every kit in the shop is labelled, so you can pick honestly:
- Beginner — 612 kits. Larger colour areas, fewer shades. A section
fills in quickly, which matters most on a first canvas: visible progress is what makes people
finish rather than abandon. - Intermediate — 848 kits. More blending and tighter areas, particularly
in skies, water and fabric. The right step up once you have completed one canvas. - Advanced — 492 kits. Fine detail, many closely-related shades,
often faces or complex architecture. Slow work, and the finished piece looks it.
Choosing a size
Size changes detail, not difficulty. A larger canvas gives every numbered area more room, so
eyes, reflections and fine architecture stay readable; on a small canvas those same areas
compress into a few strokes. One subject works at any size. Add more faces, pets or fine detail
and size up so each of them has space.
What comes in the box
Every kit includes a pre-printed numbered canvas, matched acrylic paints, brushes and a
reference sheet. Nothing else is needed to start. Acrylics dry fast, so a mistake is fixed by
letting the area dry and painting over it — one of the reasons the craft forgives
beginners.
Where adults usually start
- Landscapes & Nature — 143 designs, the most forgiving subject matter for a first or second canvas.
- Abstract & Modern — 94 designs, bold shapes and flat colour blocks.
- Animals & Wildlife — 111 designs.
- Famous Paintings — 31 designs after Van Gogh, Monet, Klimt and others.
- Vintage & Retro — 83 designs in the mid-century style the craft is named for.
- Flowers & Botanicals — 38 designs.
Painting from your own photo
A photograph can be turned into a numbered canvas — a pet, a wedding, a house, someone
you miss. We email a digital preview of the canvas for approval before anything is painted, so
you see how your photo will translate first. Because custom kits wait on that approval, they
take a little longer than a standard kit.

If brushwork is not for you
Diamond
painting (47 kits) is the mosaic alternative: resin rhinestones set onto an adhesive canvas
with an applicator pen. No paint, no drying time, and a section can be put down mid-row and
picked up days later. It suits people who find brushwork fiddly.
Delivery
All orders ship free worldwide. Kits are dispatched within 5 business days, with US delivery
typically 10–20 business days after that. Custom photo kits ship once you have approved
the preview.
